Vetcare Friends - Saima Joutsiniemi
I am Saima Joutsiniemi, the Responsible Pharmacist at Prevett—a role that every pharmaceutical wholesaler is required to have. The same applies to pharmaceutical manufacturers as well, and Prevett holds a limited manufacturing license. I “trained” for this role for 11 years as a consultant, and since the beginning of March 2026, I’ve been working full-time exclusively as a Prevett employee.
My role includes ensuring that pharmaceutical distribution is carried out properly, according to legislation. In practice, this includes supplier agreements, various audits, operational guidelines, and handling deviations. A key part of the job is understanding the legal requirements governing pharmaceutical distribution and applying them in practice.
The best part of my job is the variety and diversity of tasks, as well as the opportunity to collaborate widely with different experts across the company.
The most challenging part of my job is knowing when to say no, especially when an interesting project comes up that I simply don’t have time for or that may not fall within my responsibilities.
My motto is: If you can do it today, do it today, someone will be sick tomorrow anyway. It was a great motto when my children were small, and it still holds true today.
I’d like others to know that at Prevett, we truly understand what agile working means. We get things done instead of overthinking 😊
In my free time, it sometimes feels like I’m constantly at the grocery store, as my three sporty teenagers have already eaten all the food. Fortunately, I also find time for scouting and for watching the games of the young athletes I feed, usually from the basketball and water polo stands.
My favorite childhood book series was definitely The Twin Detectives, featuring Klas and Göran and their cousin Hubert.
To my younger self, I would like to say: Hang in there, the enormous amount of reading for all those exams will eventually come to an end.
My secret vice: well, it has to be a cheese sandwich. If I had to eat only one food for the rest of my life, I would choose a cheese sandwich without hesitation.
As a greeting to my coworkers: I continue to be amazed by the wide range of tasks that land on people’s desks and how skillfully they are handled!
